Is your Workplace Fit for a Triathlon Challenge?

Think you can persuade your work mates or friends to Swim, Bike and / or Run? The Speedo Big Workplace Challenge is a fun new triathlon event set to take place at Holme Pierrepont National Water Sports Centre on Friday 25 May 2012.

There are two types of entries available, Team - three individuals each completing the whole course individually, or Relay - three team members, who each will do one discipline each. Both challenges will take place over a 500m open water swim, 20km bike ride and a 5km run.

The Speedo Big Workplace Triathlon is ideal for both experienced and beginner triathletes. For the winners there are the bragging rights of being the fittest business in town. For some it will be the chance to go head to head with rival departments and other businesses, and for others there's a chance to achieve a challenge and have a fantastic day out.

According to the National Health Service, improving your general fitness and losing weight will benefit your posture and help to prevent injury. In 2008/09 nearly 30 million working days were lost due to workplace injury and ill-health, with stress and back pain the two biggest causes of absence.

Challenging your colleagues to a take part in a triathlon will not only help benefit health in your workplace, but also provide a fun team-building day out.

The National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont is the perfect venue for triathlon. The whole event takes place within the lake and surrounding parklands so you don't have traffic to contend with, and team mates can see each other throughout the event - particularly as they pass the noisy grandstand during the bike and run sections. The venue has hosted the award-winning National Club Relay Championships for the last 20 years!

There's plenty of parking, a large customer bar and restaurant, and we'll lay on a BBQ for all to enjoy some post race refuelling. We can also arrange discounts on a range of city-centre restaurants and bars for those who have enough energy to venture out after their races!

Both entry types include swim caps, t-shirts, goodie bags and medals for all finishers. Day insurance is also included at £5 per person.
