please rack your bike promptly. Competitors only will be allowed into

asked to show your race number. Your approved cycle helmet must be
attached to your bike when you rack it. Remember when racking your bike
please place your bike number on the right hand side of the top tube
close to your handlebars. Please rack only in your designated place, any
bikes found incorrectly racked will be removed.
Transition

racing competitors will be allowed through the transition area. The
Transition Area will open again at 10.15am for 45 minutes for
competitors to collect their bikes. After this time transition security

of your bike from the transition area will not be possible without your
race number, which corresponds with your stick-on bike frame number on
your bike top tube. If challenged please be prepared to show race
numbers at all times.
COMPETITORS
ARE REMINDED THAT IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT THEIR CYCLE
IS IN A ROAD WORTHY CONDITION.
Race
Numbers
You
will be issued with TWO body numbers which must be clearly visible on
your front and back at all times RACE BELTS ARE PERMITTED - please bring
your own safety pins. Do not cut or fold these race numbers as penalties
will be issued for number mutilation.
Race
Briefing
There
will be a short race briefing at the transition area at 8.00am for all
athletes. Please attend this race briefing as any last minute changes,
as well as any questions will be answered here.
Swim
750m One Lap
Please see attached Race Maps also. You are not permitted to swim in Clumber Lake at any time, other than during the race. The swim start will be 600 metres up from the swim exit. Please give yourselves 5 minutes to walk to the swim start. The start will take place from within the water at the Lincoln Terrace, go out for 200 metres, before turning 270 at the first buoy. Swim down the lake for a further 500metres, before making a right 90 turn into the swim exit. Wetsuits
are likely to be compulsory and are strongly recommended. A wetsuit will
help to keep you warm and buoyant. If you do not own a wetsuit but are
looking to buy one contact Total Fitness Nottingham (TFN) on 0115 922 22
26 for further information. If you wish to hire a wetsuit for the event,
please contact Beyond Transition on 0115 9141337. Canoes will be on hand
to guide you and provide safety cover. If you get into difficulty, turn
on your back and raise one arm; a canoe will then escort you to the
bank.
All
competitors please note: United Kingdom inland waters are not completely
safe for swimming, although risks of disease are low and risks of
serious infection are small.
Cycle
24km Two Laps
Please
see attached Race Maps also. Clumber Park has many roads within and
along its surrounding edges. The bike course will be using the two main
roads through the park plus the major approach road.
From
the swim you will be directed out of transition, then left onto the
first 2 mile section. This part of the course will be completely closed
for use by competitors only. Upon reaching the A614, you will go over a
sleeping Policeman and pass under Drayton Gate, this is here to slow
cyclists as well as motorist's, and will NOT be covered. Turn left here
onto the A614 (take great care), this is a fast road so take care when
turning. It will be very important here to keep to the left whilst using
this busy road. After an other 2 mile stretch there will be a left hand
turn, back into Clumber Park through the Apleyhead Lodge Gate and onto
Limetree Avenue. This road is the main Clumber Park through road, and
will not be closed. Again follow this road for 2.6 miles until a further
left turning at the Lab Crossroads. Returning to the section where you
joined the closed section. After 2 laps, please follow the signs for the
bike transition.
BSI,
ANSI or SNELL approved hard shell helmets will be compulsory and must be
worn throughout the cycle section. They must be fastened prior to
mounting your cycle and neither undone nor removed until your bike is
safely racked. This race is a non-drafting race for all categories. You
are reminded of the 10-metre rule and that no 'side by side' riding will
be allowed. The cycle section is partially on open roads, so please
ensure that you observe the rules of the road at all times. Please ride
on the left and overtake briefly on the right before returning to ride
on the left.
There
are only three junctions per lap, each of these are left turns, but
please check that the way is clear before pulling out. The police will
be in attendance, but will not stop traffic for cyclists.
Run
5km Three Laps (NEW COURSE)
Please
see attached Race Maps also. Unlike to bike course which uses the roads
within Clumber Park, the run course uses mostly paths and cross country
sections. The run course is now three laps. Please note that as the
course contains shale path sections, there are a few sections that are
rough underfoot. Spikes are not recommended, as there is still nearly a
mile on road. From the transition area, turn left and run parrel along
with the bike course through the centre of the field, follow this route
round until you reach the finish road. Approx. 100 metres before the
finish turn a 90 left hand turn onto the grassed area opposite the
car park. Follow this for 200 metres until you rejoin the finish road.
Once you have completed all three laps of this course instead of turning
left onto the grassed area opposite the car park, continue straight onto
towards the finish, and finish underneath the red gantry. There will be
one drinks station per lap, positioned as you start each new lap.
