This unique and very exciting sprint triathlon, hosted by Lakeside Shopping Centre on the 17th June is now in its third year. The event has proved to be very popular, with a really fast flat course that appeals to both the experienced and novice triathlete, you will be guaranteed lots of support on the day with the course overlooked by various viewing areas, bars, cafes, restaurants and shops.
Not only is this a great event we also have some fantastic giveaways. In our early season competition Peter Hawtree won a B-Twin Facet 5 carbon framed road bike with SRAM Rival groupset and Mavic Aksyum wheels worth a total of £1299.99 kindly donated by our headline sponsor Decathlon, the world's largest sports retailer. However, the free competitor giveaways don't end there - enter the event before the 3rd June for your chance to win a brand new wetsuit!
"Competed in the first Lakeside Tri and thoroughly enjoyed it. Congratulations to the organisers with special thanks to the Essex Police for stopping traffic at key roundabouts. A nice warm day and a well run event. Nice one guys and a big well done to the hassled ladies handing out the lap counting wristbands on the run!" - Chris Hollis (competitor)

Individuals and teams of three complete a 750m swim in Lakeside's Alexandra Lake followed by a flat and fast 20km bike and a closed road 5km multi-lap run, with the finish area situated outside the Marks & Spencer store.
The event will start with a 750 metre open water swim in Lakeside's beautiful Alexandra Lake, which is overlooked by numerous spectator viewing areas, bars, cafes, restaurants and of course shops!
The cycle section is made up of a very simple 2 looped 10KM course which will have police support at all major junctions to try to offer cyclists priority over other road users. Check out the race maps and race information for full details about the course!
The run route will be a looped course on a closed internal road within the grounds of Lakeside Shopping Centre. Lapping up and down is great - seeing all of the other athletes competing and giving an opportunity for spectators to support you.
"Thanks so much for the great event today at Lakeside, it was my first Triathlon and I loved it! Great organising and support from the crowd and your team, look forward to doing it again next year!" - Kerry O'Sullivan (competitor)
