The City of Cambridge Triathlon is a brand new event for 2014. It's not often you get to do a triathlon in a world famous city, so we hope that this one is going to be pretty special!
It's all starts with a 1500m swim in the River Cam. It's an out and back course so very easy to navigate. From there you'll head to transition number one on Jesus Green, grab your bike and head out of the city on traffic managed roads.
It's a one lap 38km bike course, so can accommodate a large number of athletes without the need to do lots of overtaking. Don't be fooled into thinking it's going to be completely flat, we found some hills around including a beauty in the first 5K!
After returning your bike to transition you'll start a two lap 10km run around the city. The route is bang on 10k and takes you past Queens and then Kings College. Although we're hoping for some good crowds in town, we're hoping that you'll be focussed on the finishing line on Jesus Green.
You definitely will need a wetsuit for the swim and although you can compete on any roadworthy bike, you'll need a road or time trial bike if you're looking to be competitive. The run is all on pavements and paths, so although it's quite twisty, it should be fast.
We think this should be a fast course, and accessible too if you've not got much triathlon experience. Of course, we welcome teams of three to get together and compete in a relay format too.
