David Lloyd Lincoln Sprint Triathlon
Timex Sprint Triathlon Series - Race 4
20 July 2008
400m Pool Swim / 24km Bike / 5km Run
The final race of the Timex Sprint Triathlon Series is again based at the award winning David Lloyd Leisure & Health club, Burton Waters, Lincoln. As far as luxury triathlons go, this one hits the spot. How many triathlons are hosted by a private health club, using the magnificent indoor pool, cycling along perfectly smooth re-surfaced wide open roads and finishing with a closed road lap run course.
After the success in its first two years, we expect this event to grow in numbers again in 2008. The course has been checked, and slightly redeveloped to ensure that this event continues to uphold the high quality that you expect.
We think that this event has an American feel to it. Swimming in a luxury pool, jumping out, passing a Jacuzzi on the way into transition, jumping onto your bike. The first village that you will pass through is the splendid village of Burton. Which is a beautiful village, if you get chance to look - which we doubt that you will. Who said Lincoln was flat? After the first few miles of the cycle course, we doubt that anyone will be saying Lincoln is flat. We have managed to find one of the steepest hills in Lincoln - but don't worry, plenty of people have walked up Burton Hill over the past two years.
From there on it's all quite simple, we would recommend you check out the view to the left once you have reached the top - you will know what we mean when you see it. The run route, as we said before is along a closed road section of the old A57. Lapping up and down is great, seeing all of the other athletes competiting and giving an opportunity for spectators to support you.
And don't forget, all those entering will receive a free 5-day pass so that you can continue your relaxation or even your fitness regime.
