Mansfield Sprint Triathlon

Timex Sprint Triathlon Series - Race 2
18 May 2008

400m Pool Swim / 17km Bike / 5km Run

As race number 2 in the Timex Sprint Triathlon Series this could be your final opportunity to compete for a prize in the series if you did not race at Southwell.

Most people would consider Mansfield to be famous for a number of reasons, mainly being the home of Sherwood Forest with Robin Hood and his band of merry men. Maybe a few might remember that over 20 years ago, the European Team Triathlon Championships were held at the same leisure centre where we now base our event from. Twenty years ago, the event started with a bike, followed by the swim then finishing with the run. Believe it or not, the course has not changed much over the twenty years.

We believe that this is our fastest event of the year, a quick splash up and down the pool, followed by a truly speedy bike around the stunning Sherwood Forest country side, on what can honestly be described as 'perfect biking roads'. The run, maybe not so smooth but again is certainly fast, it could be due to the closed roads that we use or it could be that somehow it's a downhill course.

This is a great event to keep you in sharp during the season, or it could be that you are looking for a gentle introduction into triathlon - well look no further; you've just found it!
