If you are looking for a magnificent venue and a unique kind of event, then look no further. The Mansion House is located within 500 acres of magnificent parkland, most of which you will visit during the event. Mansion House is conveniently located, just 5 minutes from the A1, nestled neatly between Bedford and Cambridge, alongside Biggleswade to the west.
The timing of the event will be perfect, with two separate events; this duathlon is a great event for all athletes, both new and old. For the new the sprint event will be a gentle welcome to the sport of duathlon. For the more experienced athletes, both events are a great warm up for the season ahead and an opportunity to test the winter training.
The event will be held in support of the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust, Dame Kelly Holmes, Double Olympic Champion and Chair of the DKH Legacy Trust said:
"My charity creates life chances for disadvantaged young people though providing mentoring support from world class athletes. Our Olympians, Paralympians, World and Commonwealth Champions, having experienced the highs and lows of world class competition, know what it takes to face adversity and still overcome the odds to succeed.
"I am delighted that the DKH Legacy Trust has been selected as the official charity partner for the Mansion House Duathlon and that thought the vital funds that it raises, we will be able to support more young people who need our help."
What to expect on the day? After arriving at Mansion House, the event car park will be located close to the registration and transition areas, however, there will be no need to turn up hours before the start, all of the race packs will be posted out to competitors pre event.
The main race headquarters will be based directly in front of Mansion House, giving a truly regal feel to the event. The run sections will be undulating, testing but very picturesque, along a mixture of internal private roads, bridleways, footpaths and grass. The route will take you through and along a journey that is normally out of bounds to general public, visiting locations only normally found by local wildlife.
The scenic bike course uses local rural roads surrounding Mansion House, with a mixture on long straight flat-out roads, technical turns and some gradual gradients, makes this bike course an entertaining route. The bike course also has various sections with traffic management, ensuring that competitors have the preference at road junctions, making the route quicker and safer.
