The third event in the Saucony Sprint Triathlon Series is the Woodhall Spa Triathlon. Over the past three years this event has grown from under 200 competitors, to nearly 450 competitors in 2008. In 2009 we are expecting 500 budding triathletes.
When people think of Lincolnshire, what is the first thing to pop into their heads? We would say striking open countryside, vehicle free country lanes and wide-open skies full of sunshine. (We do live in Lincolnshire). When describing this event, then all of the former is true.
The venue Jubilee Park offers a perfect mixture of relaxation and recreation. The recreation, or should we say triathlon, should not cause you much hassle either, especially if you choose to stay at Jubilee Park - only metres away from the swim, transition and finish areas. Please note in 2009 due to redevelopment only basic camping facilities will be available.
The swim takes place in a massive 33 metre, heated outdoor pool, before then progressing to the bike section. It is safe to say that the bike course is as expected, along beautiful traffic free country lanes and very flat. The run course is straightforward and equally flat.
This event is simply just great and ticks all the boxes. For those that have never completed a triathlon before, this event is ideal. For those that race every weekend, then come along and test yourself here, see if you can make it under the magic hour. No one has yet!!! Make it a weekend away - there is something for everyone to do - kids, parents, grandparents and even the dog.
