On the 6th and 7th June 2009 Rother Valley Country Park will be the venue for the 2nd multi event triathlon festival organised by One Step Beyond Promotions, in association with The British Triathlon Federation, The Rotherham Advertiser and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
The festival aims to engage the local community, children and adults, as well as attracting athletes from around the country. There will be 6 individual events across the weekend, the first 4 events on the Saturday, the final 2 events on the Sunday.
Rother Valley Country Park is a fantastic sporting and recreational venue attracting 750,000 people per year. The park is located on Mansfield Road, Wales Bar, Sheffield S26 5PQ. There will be numerous activities happening at the park throughout the festival, making it the perfect opportunity for a sporting weekend away!
Event 1: Scootathlon
Race Detail:
400 metre run / 300 metre scoot / 200 metre run
This event will be open to children between the ages of 5 - 8 yrs old.
Event 2: Children’s Triathlon
Race Detail:
50 metre shallow swim / 3km cycle / 1500 metre run
This event will be open to children between the ages of 9 - 15 yrs old.
Event 3: Corus British Disabled Triathlon Championships
Race Detail:
750 metre swim / 20km cycle / 5km run
Event 4: Women’s Only Super Sprint Distance Triathlon
Race Detail:
200 metre swim / 10km cycle / 4km run
This event will be totally exclusive for female participants.
Event 5: Sprint Distance Triathlon
Race Detail:
750m swim / 25.4km cycle / 5km run
The swim will take place in the main lake exiting into a transition area positioned by the Water Sports complex. The bike section will use the surrounding roads to the park - we have redeveloped the cycle course in 2009 so make it more competitor friendly. The run section will be kept within the grounds of the park.
Event 6: Standard Distance Triathlon
Race Detail:
1500m swim / 43.5km cycle / 10km run
The swim will take place in the main lake exiting into a transition area positioned by the Water Sports complex. The bike section will use the surrounding roads to the park - we have redeveloped the cycle course in 2009 so make it more competitor friendly. The run section will be kept within the grounds of the park.
