2 HOUR PACERS

We’ve been in touch with all of our brilliant pacers for the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon 2016 as we wanted to find out a little bit more about the people who will be getting us to the finish line in time!

These are the people to stick with if you’re wanting to hit the 2 hour mark… Keep an eye out for the pacers who will be wearing a pacers t-shirt & a pacers flag!

PLEASE NOTE: Our Cambridge Half Marathon Pacers will be racing on chip times rather than gun time. This will ensure an accurate finish time for all runners wanting to run with the pacers.

2hr Pacers

Name: Charlotte Cook

Age: 32

Best Half Marathon Time: 1.49.35

Favourite half marathon location: Coniston in the Lake District – hilly, off-road and stunning views. This run left me speechless, which is a very rare occurrence!

When did you start running: Approximately four years ago

What or who got you into running: Putting on a bit of weight after getting married. I needed to get fitter and running has now become a big part of my life. Wherever you go, you can put your trainers on and explore your surroundings.

What advice would you give to someone running their first half marathon: Enjoy it! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get a certain time, there’s always another race. Start relaxed, take in the atmosphere and finish strong. Oh and don’t forget to smile for the finish line camera!

Name: Dave Mail.

Best Half Marathon Time: 1:27:40 but that was 11 years ago when I was not quite so old.

Favourite half marathon location: I’ve run in only 4 HM locations, all local, so it’s a tie between St. Neot’s and Brandon Forest.

When did you start running: Started running when I was 4 or 5 years old. Yes, that’s right, as a young child. Obviously not races but running around fields, later to school. Races started at school sports days.

What or who got you into running I just ran as that young child and loved it even at such a young age. Even all these years later, I’ve still got lots of enthusiasm and can’t see me ever stopping.

What advice would you give to someone running their first half marathon Enjoy yourself!

How do you like to keep fit? I use a wide range of training activities, such as yoga, pilates, cycling and strength training, to keep myself mobile and injury free, and hopefully running well into very old age.
