We aim to rasie £1Million for Cancer Research
February 3, 2015
We are very pleased to confirm our three-year partnership with Cancer Research UK has raised nearly £700,000 for the charity, and we now hope to reach the £1million milestone by the end of 2015.
Our key fundraising events are the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon and Nottingham’s Outlaw Triathlon, but there has also been a significant contribution from novice events.
The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon takes place on 8 March and has a sizeable number of committed fundraisers already. Last year’s event raised over £165,000, the highest total since the event was first launched in 2012, and it is hope that the 2015 event can challenge this total.
Event director, Adam Moffat said: “The Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon has been the major contributor to the total raised so far from One Step Beyond events and we’re very grateful to everyone who has taken part and raised money over the last three years.
We have 4,500 people taking part this year and hope to grow that number in the future, which could in tern help raise even more money for Cancer Research UK.”
The original founder of One Step Beyond, Iain Hamilton said: “To reach £1million by the end of this year would be a fantastic land mark and the result of a really strong partnership between us and Cancer Research UK.”
He added: “Taking part in sporting events encourages people to lead healthier lifestyles, which in itself can help prevent cancer. It’s fantastic that so many of our competitors are also keen to raise money for charity. We’re very motivated to reach our £1million target and contribute to Cancer Research UK’s goal of beating cancer sooner.”
Entries for both the Saucony Cambridge Half Marathon and the Outlaw Triathlon are sold out for 2015, but you can find out more about One Step Beyond’s other events here.
