Southwell Looking Attractive In The Sunshine
April 12, 2011
Our 2011 triathlon season opener the Southwell Sprint Triathlon must have looked very attractive in the sunshine over the weekend. We took nearly 100 entries in 3 days for the pool swim sprint distance event that takes place at Southwell Leisure Centre, Nottingham on Sunday 1st May.
Similar to previous years, the Southwell event has already attracted a high percentage of novice triathletes looking to take on their first event. With an excellent reputation, safe, fun & friendly organisation, along with beautifully rural bike & run routes, it is a great novice event. However, Southwell does not only attract novice triathletes, past winners include Will Clarke (Under 23 World & European Champion) Andy Tarry (National Sprint & Age Group Champion) & Nick Dunn (World Age Group Champion).
Last year,62 athletes managed to break the magic 1 hour barrier for the 400m swim, 12 mile bike & 3 mile run, compared to just 14 athletes in 1994 when the event was first organised.
With a maximum limit of 600 entries & nearly 500 competitors already signed up, we would strongly recommend any others considering Southwell to get their entries in quick.
The Southwell Sprint Triathlon is Race 1 of our three race Midlands Sprint Triathlon Series & also the Triathlon England East Midlands Series.
We expect entries to close before the official closing date so please don’t delay, enter today - here
