High5 for Outlaw competition winner Harris
November 13, 2011
Kent’s Carl Harris has won a year’s supply of High5 thanks to the Outlaw Triathlon. With over 500 entries having been received by the end of October, Harris was shocked to have been picked out as the competition winner and will now be supplied with all the nutrition he needs in the run up to race day on 1 July 2012.
The 30 year old prison officer said: “I do a lot of cycling, and use a lot of sports nutrition, so this is brilliant!” Despite never having previously done a triathlon, Harris will take on the Outlaw’s 2.4mile swim followed by a 112mile bike ride and 26.2mile marathon run. He added: “Lots of my friends have done Ironman’s and I found the Outlaw and thought it looked like the race for me with its friendly atmosphere and being a well organised event.”
“I’ve not done a triathlon before, but I’ve done lots of duathlons and my swimming is coming back to me having not done it since school. I’m also doing the London Marathon next April so the training is already well under way. I’ve set a goal of fourteen and a half hours at the Outlaw, you’ve got to have targets. I’m looking forward to the whole experience and the buzz of being there.”
Raph Deinhart from High5 commented: “We’re really pleased to be involved with the Outlaw for the third year in a row, and respect to Carl for really going for it and doing the Outlaw as his first triathlon!”
“We’ll be providing the on course nutrition on 1 July with our latest generation sports drink EnergySource Citrus and EnergyGels with and without caffeine will be available on all bike and run feed stations. One of the main products we’re recommending to Carl is the EnergySource 4:1, which is the world’s leading all-in-one training and recovery drink. ”
Outlaw entries are now over 600, with the maximum capacity being 1000 athletes. Having already won the 220 Triathlon Magazine award for best event in February, the Outlaw is one of five events shortlisted for Best Event at the British Triathlon Annual Awards Dinner this weekend.
Entries are currently priced £225 for individual entries and £250 for relay teams. On 1 December the price for individual entries will rise to £245 and remain fixed at that level. More information click here
